The Mississippi Metropolitan Ballet, under the direction of Jennifer Beasley, will present their annual production of Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker on December 9-10 at the Jackson Academy Performing Arts Center, on Ridgewood Road in Jackson. Professional guest artists from Ballet Memphis, Boston Ballet, and a USA International Ballet Competition Bronze Medalist will join the cast of over 100 local dancers in the company’s 25th anniversary presentation of the classic holiday ballet. more

Keith Tonkel passed away this year, Wellsfest 2017 is powering ahead with their goal to help others. The money they raise this year will go to the Methodist Children’s Home in Jackson. more
The Mississippi Metropolitan Ballet will present the classic fairytale ballet “Cinderella” at Jackson Academy's Performing Arts Center this March with performance March 25-26. The ballet will feature all original choreography, dazzling sets and costumes, and more than 80 dancers from the metro- Jackson area. A special opportunity to meet the cast will be offered at Cinderella’s Tea Party following the March 26 performance. more
The Mississippi Metropolitan Ballet, under the direction of Jennifer Beasley, will present their annual production of Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker on December 10-11 at the Jackson Academy Performing Arts Center, on Ridgewood Road in Jackson. Guest artists Gabriela Mesa and Huberto Blanco will dance the lead roles of the Sugar Plum Fairy and Her Cavalier, and guest artist Javier Miranda will dance the role of The Snow King.  All three guest artists were trained at the Cuban National Ballet School and danced with the National Ballet of Cuba before coming to the United States. more
When the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra gathers to perform the Symphony at Sunset concert in September, they do so on a charming two-acre sanctuary where oak, cedar, and magnolia trees provide a natural Southern backdrop. This intimate setting includes Jackson’s oldest surviving residential structure, making The Cedars a community landmark. It is also the perfect space for the Orchestra’s themed throwback to America’s traditional concert in the park. more
The Mississippi Metropolitan Ballet, under the artistic direction of Jennifer Beasley, will present “Frozen Heart: The Tale of the Snow Queen” at 2 p.m. on April 2-3 at Jackson Academy Performing Arts Center. The ballet will be based on the famous tale by Hans Christian Andersen, which was made popular by the recent animated film “Frozen.” It will be set to music by classical composer Hugo Alfven. The production will involve more than 75 MMB dancers from the metro area plus a professional guest artist from Ballet Memphis. The Frozen Fairytale Tea Party will follow the April 3 performance and offer the chance to meet the cast. more
